Four Wheelin' And Free

A few weeks back we drove up yonder to check out yet another house. We didn't have much luck in the house department. We loved the acreage and location but the house left us cringing. We are just a bit spoiled I guess. So on goes the search.

While we were there my husband and I got to spend some time hittin' the trails without the kids.

We went for a short ride and came back. His aunt fussed at us and made us leave again. Told us "THIS TIME STAY LONGER!" What really made me feel sad about not finding the "perfect for us house" yet was what she added after that. "AND IF YOU MOVE UP HERE WE ARE GOING TO MAKE YOU DO THIS "AND" GO OUT ONCE IN A WHILE!" (and yes, I used all caps because she was indeed yelling. I really love her.

So we left again and this time I was brave enough to whip out the camera a few times. I haven't been on a four wheeler since my oldest was in the early years of grade school--and THAT'S a long time.

This lil guy/gal (I'm not a bird expert) decided our road was his/her's.
What's that you say? All you see is a bunch of rocks? Here look closer...
Crazy lil thing set up it's home right there in the road and decided to start a family (there is an egg beneath it.)

We bid him/her ado and headed on across the way (doesn't that ear just scream out wet willie me?)
and then up the way
and then down over the (agh!) stream
and back home again.
Well. Maybe not our home. But maybe some day we will be close enough so we can enjoy times like this again. Can you believe I came home without a lick of mud on me? Thank you honey for remembering I was on there with you.
